Region 2 Convention Model Entry Rules

We recommend the IPMS/USA Competition Handbook for more in-depth look at IPMS rules and the judging process. It is available for download at the IPMS/USA website.

The following are specific for the 2010 IPMS Region 2 Convention:

All entrants must be registered. Membership in IPMS is not required. All model entries should be the sole work of the entrant, except for club/group entries.

The contest is open to all models except those that have won 1st, 2nd or 3rd place at an IPMS Region II Convention or IPMS National Convention. National or Regional Premier or Out-of-Box winners are eligible. Previous award winners are eligible as part of collection, triathlon and group entries.

No one will be allowed to enter the contest area prior to registering ALL their entries.

Reasonably sized bases are allowed in all categories, but are not judged except in the vignette/diorama categories. Display bases must not exceed a 30in x 30in footprint as contest space is limited.

Absentee entries are accepted if registered under the builders name. Registration fees apply.

In the Armor conversion category (18) significant structural changes to the basic kit must exist to qualify. Entrants in this category should be prepared to provide a list of parts and materials used.

The Entrant will determine the classification of each of their entries. If there is doubt regarding the appropriate category, the Registrar may provide assistance. At the time of judging, the Head Judge makes the final decision if changes are necessary.

All judges decisions are final. Any attempts to influence the judges results in immediate disqualification.

Each entry/subject is eligible for only one award per category (no sweeps) except consideration of the special awards.

Pre-painted entries are allowed in Junior categories only. Pre-assembled entries (die-cast metal) are not allowed in any category.

Entries considered inappropriate or offensive to generally acknowledged standards of taste and acceptability by the contest officials are not allowed. "Lewd Entries," Dioramas, and Vignette categories are defined and regulated by the current IPMS USA National guidelines.

Due to space limitations and the safety of our contestants and visitors, Camera tripods are not allowed in the contest/vendor hall.

All entries: interiors subject to judging if hatches/doors/canopies are open. If a figure is in an open hatch/cockpit the interior and figure are not judged and the model considered to be closed top.

No liability for loss or damage to contest entries is assumed by IPMS USA, IPMS Richmond, the Fredericksburg Hospitality House, or the contest judges.

Space limitations do not allow us the table space for display-only entries.
