The convention theme is "Nostalgic Plastic", which is any kit made before 1980. IPMS Richmond would like to thank Nostalgic Plastic for helping support the 2010 Region 2 Convention. Please be sure and stop by Chris's tables at the show, or visit the Nostalgic Plastic website.
The International Plastic Modeling Society (IPMS) was created by modelers as a means to help one another learn model building and acquire not only basic, but advanced skills that increase the enjoyment of the hobby. The membership extends across many international as well as demographic lines. Our members have varied interests, and not only work in plastic, as our name implies, but metal, wood, resin, and other mediums.
If you would like to know more about IPMS/USA please visit their website.
As the R2C, I wanted to welcome you to IPMS Richmond's first Regional in decades. I hope you enjoy our show and have a great time while you are in Fredericksburg, VA. Richmond's Old Dominion Open is one of this Region's largest one day shows and laid the groundwork for this Regional. Momentum from that show has resulted in a very innovative
Regional that features a ground breaking event--the first "Bring & Build" on Friday evening at the hotel. IPMS-USA says this has not been attempted before at any Regional show. So, bring a kit, or better yet, plan on buying a new kit from the vendors that afternoon and crack open the kit that night after dinner. Plan on staying up late as this will be a fun event. We hope you enjoy your stay and that your show experience will be a great memory.
